    HTPC or PS3

Was thinking of building an HTPC but leaning toward a PS3 with play TV can watch freeview and exchange the HDD to a larger one and put Ubuntu on as OS and it has a decent blueray player 7.1 sound & plays games. So would there be any advantages in building an HTPC over using PS3 for my living room?

Umm, a tough one. Consoles are tying to imitate HTPC's. Do you have a 360? if you do I would for a nice HTPC

    Re: HTPC or PS3

Media centre pc could be quieter, you can put media centre on it for rewinding/recording tv etc. But then if you want it to play games then it won't be so quiet and deffinitely won't work as seamlessly as a PS3 would. But if you just want it for tv/video type features a Media Centre PC with Vista may be better.
