And the point of this thread is...?

You might want to consider a HDD, DVD drive and, given that you're already blowing so much hypothetical money, a sound card.

a 22" lg, a gtx260 and a 625w psu jump out as being less than finest ?

thread title needs renaming to something a little more on track with the hardware listed, like "my £1500 build".

Yep I think he's getting a bit carried away, but he's been working himself up for a month now, I'm amazed he's not yet bought it.

Or have you actually got around to spending the money?

Point is to help people have a list of good products and reviews so they don't have to search for such quality products themselves and spend time looking at reviews, etc.

They can choose their own HDD's and drives, I'm not building an entire computer, just putting together some good hardware coupled with reviews [EDIT:] you're right though, I should put the rest since I went this far... but I figured these were the highest quality for the money and I had their reviews handy, but thanks.

22" is standard for competitive gaming, anything more is for eye-candy--people who are just interested in single-player and having fun... as opposed to players who want to win, and that's how they have fun.

Competitive quality versus eye-candy quality.

This is for gamers who want headshots, this hardware is optimal and relatively inexpensive according to all of the reviews you can find on each part.

If you look at the bottom, I explained ways that you can drop the price by as much as £800.

"a lot of money for not much" can you explain how this is "not much"?

I've been reading reviews and figuring out what the best options are, and studying information.

I'm trying to do people who are in the position that I was in a favor by saving them the "month of working themselves up," as you put it , by showing them in advance what a high quality gaming machine can look like. I also give the reviews so they don't have to search each piece of hardware themselves, hopefully saving them from reading 100's of reviews.

[EDIT:] Oh yeah, I left out one major detail... most of the important items on my list keep going out of stock... and I don't want to place an order and end up waiting a month, so I'm making adjustments now.

lol yeah... you can get the OC2 instead, it's only very slightly less powerful as the OCX.

No, this isn't the finest hardware for your money, this is what YOU think is good for "competitive gaming."

a 22" monitor? hardly the finest money can buy :S .

"This is for gamers who want headshots, this hardware is optimal and relatively inexpensive according to all of the reviews you can find on each part."
Then why are you saying it's the best money can buy?

Sorry, but I think you're just getting ahead of yourself.

sorry rob, but im still 100% for DDR2 and non i7 at the mo
i mean the price increase is massive and non i7 machines are still amazingly fast and dont forget CPU < GPU for gaming!

Anyone else find this thread a little arrogant?

I mean, rob, you came here asking for help and so many people helped you spec up your build. Then you make a thread, acting like this is all your own information and research and passing off everyone elses work as your own. I think that's pretty unfair on everyone who helped you.

I'm not saying it's the best, I never did, I said it's some of the finest, it's gotten nothing but good reviews and I mention that it's aimed at gamers who aren't concerned so much with eye-candy.

And I also show the alternative to i7, and how you can save over £500 easily.

I don't think either of you have read my whole post...

Whoooooaaaa.... Where did that come from?

I'll quote my posts to disprove your accusations, which I find quite insulting...

"My little guide to some of the finest hardware on the planet, from what I've learned, and if any of my information is wrong, then please let me know. I'm supporting everything I'm saying with reviews from trust-worthy sources....."

- I'm just posting what information I've learned along the way, to help others in one single thread... I already made a thread thanking everyone for all of the help and support I received, do you want me to kiss your feet? Seriously, what have I done wrong by making this post? I simply made a post to try to offer solutions to people who are looking for them, without them having to spend a lot of time reading and researching hundreds of pages, they can hopefully find it all on one page... I'm not seeking fame or credit or anything, I don't know why you say I'm arrogant, etc... That's not nice at all. I'm disappointed.

As for the monitor critics... I clearly said:

"If you want eye-candy, then you will want the biggest monitor you can afford, and 4870x2 so that you can pump up your resolution and get the absolute most beautiful scenes you possibly can out of every game... However... You can get just as beautiful scenes with a 22" monitor (22"'s are the standard for competitive gaming as of now), and run at 1600 resolution with max settings and get over 100 fps on a 4850."

Could you please stop all this crap about 24"+ not being for 'competitive gamers', because it's really getting on my nerves. And why do you talk about 'eye candy' as if it's a bad thing. Newsflash: Some people pay games for fun.

Instead of saying this, why not offer some proof?

Can you post better hardware performance for price?

Show what is high quality and good value, instead of just saying that this is not, that would be more effective in proving your point, which you're not doing by just saying "it's not the best"... And I'm not saying that it is all absolutely the #1, that would be spending a lot more money, I'm saying that on a 22" for competitive gameplay you can get a setup for around ~£700 and run at max settings... Or you could upgrade to the i7 if you want to be more "future-proof"...

I'm really curious to see what is better than what I suggested, and if you could show reviews and tally up a finaly price, it would be nice because then I could change my thread as to not mislead people, and give you proper credit for helping them, because that's all I was trying to do to begin with... but it seems people are just seeking to make rude gestures...
