could someone tell me the difference between the two types of conectivity (wireless RF 2.4 vs Bluetooth), and the advantages/drawbacks of both when using cordless mice and keyboards...
thanks in advance.

Bluetooth is a standard meaning any bluetooth enabled computer (or any bluetooth dongle plugged in to a computer) can use the hardware. This means extra portability. The range is generally better.
The RF for mice and keyboards is usually very specific - there is no standard so you can't take your mouse away with your laptop for instance without the RF dongle.
RF is generally the best choice for keyboard and mouse unless you have specific needs. The battery life is better I believe, and the devices are cheaper.
If you need portability or better range the bluetooth is the best choice, but you will pay more.
As long as you get a good quality Bluetooth keyboard, there is no problem with connectivity; Apple uses Bluetooth as standard for their wireless keyboards/mice, so you can guess they don't muck about with reliability.
My cheap Belkin KB/mouse set's keyboard is excellent (the mouse is crap), apart from the battery life (as Jimbo already said), but the best part is that if you have a laptop with Bluetooth integrated, you don't need the stupid dongle sticking out of the side / back to get knocked, bent, or snapped.
And if you do need a dongle (love that word) then I can highly recomend this: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/LM-Te...pport-upto-20m
It isn't the highest quality manufacture, you can prise the plastic cover off pretty easily, but you aren't likely to snap it off or pull it out by mustake.
