Dell Inspiron 530s second hard disk
I have recently bought an Inspiron 530s (mostly for the small size). It has one 250gb sata disk and I have a spare so I took the top off to fit it.
However, the second drive fitting bay has holes in the wrong place for my drive (which has them in what I had, up to know, thought of as the universal standard locations).
The upshot is that I can't fit it. Is this a new standard format or a Dell special?
The size of the disk isn't a problem, and I expect I can bodge it somehow (maybe I'll drill and tap some new holes in the disk! The bay is too short to do the reverse)
What do others think???

this sounds strange to me, I have a 530 and the holes are fine, before drilling holes in a HDD, there should be holes in the sides and holes in the bottom of the drive, the side with the circuitry on not the metal side, are you sure? Otherwise you could look at converting a 5.25" drive bay or putting the HDD in the floppy bay if you don't have a card reader already.

Thanks for the response, but mine is a 530s - a small form factor and not a standard size beast.
There is space for the disk but the cage uses pegs that screw into the hd fitting holes and slide into it. That is not the real problem as normal bolts seem to fit as well as the pegs, if only there were an inch or two nearer the front.
