    My HD4850 won't run directx10

Hi I recently purchased a Powercolour HD4850 512mb...via ebay. It installed fine with the latest drivers and the card itself seemed in good condition (the seller had a great feedback % too), however whenever I try and run a game in directx10 it morphs the screen into a mess of geometric lines. Sometimes I can see a bit of the image but even then it's usually been stretched at a weird angle. It runs directx9 perfectly. At first I thought it was just farcry 2 as I read it has had problems with this card and dx10, however I'm getting identical problems with Crysis, Fallout 3, Assassin's creed and even Sins of a Solar Empire (which used to run fine with my x1300/1550 series card!).

I've also noticed that in dx10 it bluish blotches appear on the screen.

I'm desperately looking for help, is this a hardware problem? What can I do about this? Has anyone else experienced this?

I have all the latest drivers installed

I tried taking a screenshot to show you guys the problem but it just took a shot of the window behind the program (in this case adobe illustrator).

no idea, i dont think it is the card if it can play games at dx9,

try a clean install of vista on a differend hdd and see if the problem persists

Just out of interest, are the blue blobs smooth edged and look like they're being rendered in 3d rather than as though they're interference in the picture, because my 8600GT did that in FSX under DX9 a while back.
