Multimedia Card or Secure Digital?

Need a new card for my new digicam. It uses MMC/SD I assume they both are the same? is SD (high-speed) faster than the MMC? pls advice

SD is encrypted, SD is not.

MMC devices can use MMC, SD devices can use MMC or SD.

SD has the option to write protect the cards, not sure about transfer speeds. SD seems to be preferred over MMC though.

if you have no need for the security i'd get MMC, in case you buy a random device in a few months that takes MMC but not SD
