New 120 mm case fans needed

I'm looking to upgrade my 120 mm intake and exhaust fans.

I would like to spend £10 max on each of them. which i know is probably not going to be needed but its always nice to have a bit more to play around with.

I currently have a 120 mm coolmaster exhaust fan which i got with my 330 eliete case, the other is a no name cheep pice of c***

I will be getting a fan controller in the new year which is probs going to be the Zalman MFC2

I was looking at the sharkoon "golf ball" fans but if any one can recomend anything better im open to suggestions.

    I dont want a fan with LED's

I have also seen a this fan mounting kit. will it be worth getting

Re: New 120 mm case fans needed

    Hi there,

Whats the idea behind the new fans, is it better cooling, or quieter operation?

I would personally suggest scythe S-flex or noctua fans for someone whos after silence and performance, but they are about £11-12 each. Otherwise hiper do some silent 120mm fans on ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/product/105137. Less than £6 and silent, but obviously do not perform as well as the others I mentioned.

The mounts are fine if you want to invest in them, I dont think they make a huge amount of difference myself.

    Hope thats of some help.

Silent PC Review's favourite quiet fan is the Nexus 120mm case fan (non PWM). Novatech sell them at good price and economy delivery only costs about £2. I can't vouch for their service though, I've never used them, but I probably will when I'm looking to buy some nexus 120 fans.

I've got Nexus fans in my rig now, very quiet indeed. I got them from KustomPCs.

Re: New 120 mm case fans needed

The nexus look very good and come with silicon mounts.
    What's the rpm on them?

For a fan controller, the zalman mfc2 is good but may be a bit over the top for just 2 fans
there's a nice cheap simple akasa fan controller that fits in a 3.5" floppy bay, manual control for 3 fans and has a dual usb connector (like the usb in a case, plugs onto the motherboard)

My Nexus fans run at 1000RPM by default.

Re: New 120 mm case fans needed

I ordered 6 of the Nexus fans yesterday from Novatech, paid normal economy postage £1.99, I received them this morning! They're the black and white ones, much nicer looking than the orange on their website. Shall install them tonight and see what difference they make

Re: New 120 mm case fans needed

what about Sharkoon Golf Ball 1000/2000?

the 2000s are a bit louder than the 1000s but they shift a lot more air and when used with a fan controller (like i've done) they can be absolutely silent when you need them to be but when you need the airflow you can turn it up a bit and it shifts a hell of a lot of air!

    don't care about noise?

i have the MFC1 in my case. it can control 6 fans but doesn't have any USB ports or anything like some of the fan controllers. and it is a bit basic compared to the MFC2, but of course, it's much cheaper too . but it is a bit OTT for just a couple of fans, i only have 4 fans connected to it atm but i'm gonna try and buy a RAM cooler that connects to a 3 pin connecter.
