nslu2 cant detect ext hdd
Hi, i have a 300gb ext hdd connected to my nslu2 using the 6.8unslung OS and all of a sudden the hdd is not being detected by my nslu2 device.
i tried to power on and off both devices and change usb cables etc and still no joy.
it maybe my ext hdd thats packed up as i tried to access the hdd from within my win xp pc and no joy.
i went here to download this ext2/3 reader http://www.fs-driver.org/ and what happens is that it detects the hdd BUT i still cannot access it as it keeps saying i need to reformat!
i tried to see what happens if i do try to format and it says it cannot reformat this hdd!! any ideas on how i can access teh contents of this hdd?
it does have the unlsung 6.8 fw installed in it but it cannot be read by either my xp pc and the actual nslu2 device.
cheers:juggle::surrender::confused::help:

make an ubuntu livecd up, run that and try and access your drive when its connected to your comp that way

are you in via SSH?
what happens if you take the drive out of the enclosure?
Re: nslu2 cant detect ext hdd
i would say the controller on the drive dead or dying. can you take the drive out of the enclosure and hook it up to the pc using the interface on the actual drive itself
Re: nslu2 cant detect ext hdd
Bump: just incase you get a similar issue. its nothing to do with the nslu2, its to do with the crappy LaCie enclosure i had:
