Upgrading a laptop that's still undey warranty.

I've had my Dell XPS M1710 for about 18 months now and I'm still very happy with it. I would like to upgrade the HDD and RAM though.

I guess the RAM is not really a problem, as it seems fairly easy to do and there is no need to take anything apart. Where do I stand on upgrading the HDD though? At the moment it has a 120gb in it and I would like to get something at least 250gb+

How do I go about doing this, do I need to send it back to Dell? Or can I do it myself without voiding my warranty? Does anyone know how easy the HDD's are to get to in the XPS range? I've never taken one apart before.

    Thanks for any advice.

the ram and hdd are both classed as user replacable FRU's. I would double check with Dell customer services but as far as i'm aware you can upgrade both without voiding the warrenty. Hell they even give you the manual on how to do it on there support site.

the manuals are here : http://support.euro.dell.com/support...n/SM/index.htm
