    Decent laptop for £400?

Anyone know where I can buy decent laptop for £400 to £500?

    I just had a look at http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149335
It seem decent spec and good price... can you beat that?

Personally I would go with this:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151290

Top end of your budget buts its dual core, 4GB RAM, better dedicated GPU than the others and the bonus of a blu-ray drive.

    Hawker

    http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/1728...mctag=uk_16067

    use code: HAPPIX20UK - £20 off
    use quidco 5% off

Should equate to about £500 after all of that

I bought this for £475 from Dixons about month or so ago. It was actually £499 but I had a code for £10 off and got a further £15 through cashback. Anyhow its a great laptop, fast, feels good, screen is really nice, and it has a proper gfx card so can run games reasonably well. I can play C&C3, Trackmania nations, Spore, at mid settings quite easily.

Thanks! Seem decent spec and price.

I am comparing this to http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149335

What is the benefit over HP 6735s Laptop (Ebuyer)?

    Re: Decent laptop for £400?

I wouldn't spend £500 at pixmania personally. The tosh has a nice cpu, quite powerful and energy efficient and a decent enough GPU but at £500 there are better laptops around.

    Toshiba
    Better CPU
    Better GFX Card
    HDMI Out

    HP
    1GB More Ram
    50GB More HD Space
    DVDLightScribe writer

Besides that everything else seems the same, both come with vista premium, bluetooth card reader, webcam etc. I don't know how good the build quality is on the HP, I can personally say the Toshiba is very good and imo it looks better.

I partly agree with the pixmania part, but I cant seem to find a much better laptop then the tosh at £500 or (in my case £475 )

    Re: Decent laptop for £400?

Other than the fact it's an acer this is the best prospect under £500 imo.

    Re: Decent laptop for £400?

Yeah it's a good deal that I don't disagree with lol

But when it comes to laptops and the absolute FAFF it is to upgrade.. change anything etc.. I'd happily drop 100MHz, and a bit of graphics oompff for something that will play my blu rays when I get round to errr actually buying any

It's all about balence which I think the acer does better.

Of course I also think acer can suck my braided cable and as such would pay more for a dell

I could live with a toshiba as long as it doesn't have a toshiba HDD

    Re: Decent laptop for £400?

Maybe, if you dont need it straight away you might aswell. You will probably find places like Currys trying to shift old stock (just know what you are looking for). I cant see the prices of laptops to increase =) .... (laughs at the value of the pound)
