    or

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus-...-SATA-RAID-ATX

I've already bought 4gb 800mhz Ram and plan on using q6600 maybe overclocking to 3.0ghz.
I'd like to save some money, so the cheaper one is winning me over, along with SLI which I would much prefer.

But would like your thoughts, which board?

Wouldn't bother with SLi right now. Crossfire has some worthy setups though

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Biost...-SATA-RAID-ATX

Cheaper biostar P45 which would do nicely.

    Re: Which Motherboard?

    Hi,
I have just used the Biostar HP in a clients build,
And, first time overclocking, i got an e8200 to 4.4GHz superpi stable using an AF7, not too hard
Some people say its picky with RAM but, i got the PC6400 OCZ platinum to 1100mhz,

    Just me...........

Heh, thanks mate, probably wouldn't overclock the ram at all (or perhaps not too far... ) and for £25 cheaper seems like the better deal.

Go for the cheaper one then if your not fussed on OC. So long is has a warrenty

My last Asus board turned up DOA not being able to POST properly.

No one manufacture is safe from failures, just some have more than others.

    Re: Which Motherboard?

Hard to say. For your needs the cheaper biostar is perfectly good. None of the other boards offer a noticeable benefit other than all solid caps as far as I can see.

You would be better off spending more on one of the Asus boards with all the fussy little extra which you will never use

    Cheap Biostar it is..

It came down to your comment, me looking into the full spec and practicallity of my choice as well as a review telling me the Thermalright large heatsinks dont fit in the expensive biostar too well.

So I'll be ordering the Biostar T45 HP shortly then and hopefully it'll perform well. I suppose by saving £25 on the motherboard, i can look into purchasing another 4gb ram before xmas

    Re: Which Motherboard?

Well the thing is, it has to run 1600MHz by design. Your chip at the modest 3.0Ghz only needs 1333MHz. So it's not going to stress the board very much at all.

Filling all the RAM slots might though but again not really without any overclocks on them.

Not going to overclock the Ram, though 4 x 2gb will be fine?

    What OS will you use?

    64bit then 4 x 2Gb is great

32bit then 4 x 2Gb is wasted (you won't see over half of it)

    Re: Which Motherboard?

Go with the Biostar. Or spend a little more and buy one of the nicest/reasonably priced P45 boards there is - Asus P5Q Deluxe.

Sticking with Biostar as the P5Q Deluxe is about £130 i believe, which is over my budget.
