Fan controllers
Hey guys,
I have this case and stock fans
http://www.antec.com/usa/productDeta...n=us&id=81820#
and i wanted to know what kind of fan controller would i need, i was looking on overclockers and not sure if i would need anything thing else other than to plug the case fans into the controller. i.e. its not any way linked to the MOBO.
reason for this is because it is soo much hassle to go to the back of the computer to turn the fans up when i play CoD. this is all triggered because i got the 8800GTX which we all know runs very very hot (85*c is that normal?)
thanks guy

Re: Fan controllers
also i notices on some review that my case fans dont have the 3 pin moles :S will this affect anything??

Re: Fan controllers
depends what fan controller you get, some will have 4pin molex to 3pin convertors, otherwise you will need to buy these because fan controllers only have space to plug in 3pin fans.

Re: Fan controllers
You're going to have a problem if you want to have a fan controller that controls by rpm, as a lot of the digital ones do. You need to either get new fans with a tach wire, or get a voltage based fan controller.
Don't forget to set the TriCool fans to High if you're using a fan controller....

Re: Fan controllers
i just wanted it to either be on highest when i am gaming, or lowest otherwise... it has shut down a few times when i have fans on lowest settings because i have been too lazy to turn them on lol!
i planned to get this one purely because of ascetics.

or

or most likely this:

but i dont understand the specs though.. like which has which capabilities. i cant afford to change fans, and would prefer it to be just twisting the knob..!

Re: Fan controllers
Any of those, plus as many "molex to three pin" cables / convertors as you have fans... sorted!

Re: Fan controllers
do you have to buy separately?

Re: Fan controllers
I'd recommend the Zalman, simply because you've already got three fans in that case, + potentially the CPU and GPU fan to control, and there you have five :P
Unfortunately, the MFC1 doesn't come with Molex - 3-pin fan connector, so you'll have to get those separately. Be careful which way they are.... you're connecting a Molex fan to a 3-pin connector, not the other way round, which is more common.
