windows won't boot - help please

hi, hope someone can provide a bit of advice please

we moved house recently and my pc had no problems prior to moving but after moving it was taking 2 boots for windows to load properly. now it's hardly working at all. leaving it for ages may get windows to load or may not. the windows splash screen displays and once it goes away i just get a black screen with a regular flashing from the hard drive.

i've reinstalled windows on a different hard drive with my other drives disconnected and same thing. tried a different graphics card. any suggestions? ubuntu seemed to work fine from a live disk.

my system is a gigabyte g35 ds3r i think with 2160 cpu, 4gb corsair value select 5400, couple of hard drives, couple of cd drives, antek p180 case, corsair 540watt modular psu, zalman cooler

    cheers chaps

Have you tried any of the troubleshooting modes ???

    VGA mode
    last known good ?

Pressing F8 after POST will show you these choices.

in all honesty i haven't tried last known good but i did try safe mode and vga to no avail. the fact that it did exactly the same thing with a brand new installation led me to believe it was not software or driver related

Have you tried reseating the components (eg. RAM) and replugging the ... erm.. plugs? Just to check that nothing has come loose in transit?

Yeah, you're probably right. Might be a worth a go tho just to cross it off.

As ajones said. Make sure all connectors are connected. Re-seat RAM and CPU if you are able to.
