    Pioneer DVR-216DBK vs DVR-216BK

Whilst putting together a list of bits for a new build I noticed these two drives on scan, they seem almost identical with just 16p difference in price.

Does anyone actually know what the difference is?

yep the LN24455 can handle DVD-RAM write mode as well whereas the other one cannot.

    So go for this one

    Re: Pioneer DVR-216DBK vs DVR-216BK

The drives with the letter 'D' support reading of the DVD-RAM format whereas the drives without the 'D' in the name do not support DVD-RAM.

That is the major difference between the 2 drives

[EDIT] - Beaten to it by kmac - thanks

    Best Regards,

    Thanks for clearing that up.

DVD RAM isn't a feature I'd use but hey for 16p I may as well just get it anyway!

    No.

OEM opticals come with the warranty and manual flyer in a this clear plastic bag. that is all.

The drives are OEM and as such do not come with any cables, screws for installation or software unless stated otherwise within the description.

The second 'D' stands for Dual Format.
They both support DVD-RAM but the DVR-216DBK only reads the format (5x)
whilst the Multi Format DVR-216BK both reads and writes (12x).

If you flick back and forth between the two (huge) spec pages, above,
there seem to be one or two other minor differences but it's doing my
eyesight in trying to weed them out...and they might be typos anyway.

Unfortunately (if only for me), they both only take the non-cartridge
variety of DVD-RAM discs - you'll need the likes of a Panasonic drive for
    (admittedly rare) cartridge discs.
