Question I'm looking for a digital TV tuner

I'm looking for a decent digital TV card and there are many to choose from but I want one that is internal, digital, can view the HD freeview channels that are coming next year, and have EPG in vista media center 64bit. The EPG in 64bit media center and HD are the ones that really narrow it down. So does anyone have any recommendations that fit my needs? Thanks

The Nova T 500 is pretty good but i don't know if it's HD ready. To be honest i don't know if any are yet as the format is agreed on.

There are no freeview PC tuners on the market than will work with HD. DVB-T2 cards aren't available and 90% of the country hasn't been switched over to freeview HD, so the easiest way to get HD at the moment is by going DVB-S.

Also, note that Vista Media Centre doesn't support HD channels. The TV Pack 2008 beta did, but this was pulled from the RTM version, your best bet would be to use MediaPortal instead of Media Centre if you really want to stick to a windows platform.

As everyone has said freeview HD isnt really out there significantly yet and so tuners that will do it are few and far between, I would also recommend the Nova T 500, its an excellent dual tuner and integrates into media player very well. drivers 64+32bit can be had off windows update.

That sucks, I wonder when DVB-T2 cards will start appearing then. And I'm aware media center doesn't support HD channels yet but I figured they would have sorted that out by the time freeview HD starts.

And is this the card you are recommending?

Beware that the last stock Scan had wasn't the one with the single input as shown in the pic, but a dual input. It is still a dual tuner, even if you use a single input, but I've not tested it sufficiently to know if the signal is any worse than the card it replaced (which is the one shown in the pic, the dual-tuner with single input), which is now in my main PC.

Surely though if you'r using a roof ariel it won't make a differnce. And you could always split the cable just before it goes into the card if it's due to the card prefering to have a two seperate intputs.

You could. I'm just saying that the last batch is not the same card that most think it is (and the new title (TD) reflects that). Like I say, I've not really had a chance to use it extensively yet. It'll be a bit of a bitch for Linux users for a while too I'd imagine.
