Budget PSU?

Im building a cheap system for my little brother, its nothing special.

AMD XP 1800
512 DDR PC2100
60GB HDD
FX 5200
Coolermaster Centurion

I need a cheap PSU, something around 350W I liked this one.

get a q-tec m8te i had one i and it done the biz 550w

Id advise against Q-Tec, many people have had them blow up on them and take out various bits of their pc with it. Id say go with a Chieftec or CWT one, i have a Cheiftec 350, and it handles the stuff in my sig, + 4 case fans, aero 7, and 2 cold cathodes

hyper - your 550w q-tec would struggle under 325W of load, thats being genorous too... not to mention they are niosy and are well known as a form of explosives.

Any decent make psu above 450w will be plenty. Would cost about £30 and if you see one less branded as 550w i would aviod! CWT psus are *very* good and I can definatly recommend them. The 550w is a different model to the 450w and better, but 450w should be plenty.

Cr4iG - case fans use about 0.15A each, cathodes use about 0.25A each. Those extras use only 1.25A total, a q-tec would be happy running that little - my cwt is rated 35A on 12v, thats a LOT of fans

I would Stick with Antec myself. The 360w modek would be fine for that system.

i did have an antec 330w and a 430w but changed them both recently for these> http://www.xcase.co.uk/acatalog/Power_Supplies.html look for the Model No:WinPower - 550W Silent/FMA near the bottom before the q-tec psu's.

they really are excellent psu's and very quiet with the adjustable 120mm fan,i've got them both powering heavily overclocked pc's with lots of drives,fans etc...brilliant value the only downside being the harness is a little short and doesn't have 'loads' of plugs.

Umm, only if you want to ignore the 9/10 people who think they're cheap and nasty. Get a CWT for similar prices and get Antec quality.
