    Computer upgrade advice

Okay I have some spare cash to burn to upgrade my pc.

The first component to upgrade will be my horrid case (Akasa Zen) to a Antec 300. Which to me will provide better air flow and cooling. As currently to keep temps low (40C or less) I have to leave the side panel off, this attracts dust as the computer sits on the floor.

As the 300 allows for two intake fans at the front I was thinking of getting two of these:

However, I am going to need to get a fan cable splitter. As my current mobo (ASUS p5b deluxe) only has three connectors. So I am thinking of getting this:

So the two fans run of one single fan connector. Will this be ok or will be demanding too much power from a single fan connection?

I would also like to upgrade my CPU (E6400) to say an E7300. Would this be ok? What would you recommend? I do not want to upgrade my mobo just yet.

With these upgrades I'm hoping to be able to get back to overclocking my rig again. I've been running the PC at stock speeds for a good 8 months now.

    Thanks

How much do you have to spend, and what are your current specs?

    It's 4.98*

Your cpu looks okay to me, why do you want to change it? Choosing a case is a personal issue imho choose whichever takes your fancy.

    Re: Computer upgrade advice

I want to upgrade my rig again, when I first got it I had it running at 3 - 3.2Ghz nicely untill I noticed the temps where a bit high, since then I set the system back to stock speeds. I thought if I upgrade to E7300 it will generate less heat and may overclock a better than the E6400.

I might just end up upgrading the case though.

yeah upgrade case only then over clock. the antec 900 is a really good case wit decednt airflow its considered a gamers case IMO. the 300 os more a consumers choice..

What CPU cooler are you using?? It maybe worth investing in a better one if your temperatures are too high!! If you are a gamer I would put the rest of the remaining money after you get a new case on some more RAM and a better graphics card in the near future.
