I have been offered a BlackMagic Decklink PCI-X card by a friend however my motherboard only has PCIe and PCI slots. Would the PCI-X work in a normal PCI slot? I can't seem to find a definitive answer anywhere.
Thanks

Do you mean the card you're being offered is PCI-E?
No, PCI-X
see here: http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/hd/techspecs/

So if it's PCI-X you're out of luck as it won't fit PCI or PCI-E :( Sorry :(
So in other words, 'it depends'. Ask the manufacturer of the Add-in Card for an assurance that the card is backwards compat. with PCI 2.x before buying. Or, you could just try plugging the card into your PCI slot to see if it mechanically fits. Obviously don't try to force it.Quote:
