    S939 makeover...

So with a bit of free time on my hands over the festive season, I've decided to give my old S939 system a bit of a spit-shine and overclock.

    Currently it looks like:

    - X2 3800+ LCBQE 0650SPMW (when it arrives from user 'gamesaregood')
    - AC Freezer 64 Pro
    - Abit AN8 Ultra
    - 2 x 1GB Corsair TwinX PC3200 CAS2
    - 256MB inno3D iChill 8600GTS (thank-you Hexus competition)
    - 80GB Samsung SATA300
    - Seasonic S12-380W
    - Cheap-o Midi Case
    - 2 x 80mm Sharkoon 2000s

I'm open to any and all suggestions, have a field day people!

Personally I've been looking at replacement cases as it can be re-used for future systems:
    - Coolermaster Elite 335 ~ £29.31
    - Antec Three Hundred ~ £42.31

Does anyone have any experience with either of those cases or ones in a similar price bracket? Also, case fans? I'm still in bed with the Sharkoon Golf Balls but I can't say I've kept up to date in that department.

    Thanks as always folks!

    Re: S939 makeover...

    Hi there,

Ive used both those cases in the past. In my opinion the 300 is a better case for cooling and cable management and so for the little extra probably worth the money esp considering you might re-use it later. The 335 is also a good case, and one ive used many times for builds ive made for others, just depends if you think having twice the fans and a bit of decent cabling is worth £12, i think it is .

Also in terms of fans if you want something high quality I would say scythe S-flex or noctua fans, and if you want quiet and cheap then hiper do some good stuff.

Looks like a nice system for pre-2007 games!! Is the system in your sig your current one?? I use an E4500(overclocked to 2.95ghz),4gb of RAM and an HD3870 too!

The Sharkoon 2000 fans are a good choice and so are the Noctua fans IMHO as I use both.

ARGH! I've just put an S939 4200 on ebay. Was running it until recently and playing Bioshock, assassins creed, deadspace quite nicely with an 8800gt. I'm not allowed to advertise my ebay listing, but if you're interested, PM me.

    Re: S939 makeover...

I used a coolermaster 33something or other for my dad's build. They are not bad cases, the fan is quite but I found that you need to take the other side panel off to install drives which makes the quick lock system not so quick. Got our for £25 so can't complain, it looks smart and causes no problems.

    Re: S939 makeover...

Well I went with the Antec Three Hundred and just finished fitting everything. Have to say it's an outstanding case for the price, very well thought out.

Only downside I can see is having the PSU fan extracting hot air directly into the graphics card... Currently running the X2 3800+ at 2.4GHz 1.35v but I'll take it for a proper test-drive next week.

It is indeed. Got a pretty average E4500 but I'm yet to find anything that it doesn't tear through at 2.75GHz.
