    External hard drive advice!!

    I need an external hard disk to store some files. I am thinking of one of the following:

    A Lacie Desktop Hard Disk 1tb

    or the Western Digital elements 1TB. Shops are selling both for under £80.

    Alternatively Amazon sell the Buffalo DriveStation 1tb for a similar amount although I would have to wait for delivery!!

    Which is the best drive for speed and reliability?? The stuff I am storing is not really that critical. All critical stuff is already stored on other hard disks and backuped on good quality DVds.

    eSATA kills USB2 if your motherboard supports it...

    chop an inch of the drive off or something?
    it's a 2.5" housing for a 3.5" drive!

    I wouldn't bother and it ALWAYS make the final price higher, and I find that cooling is typically not as good as those built-in one.

    Highly recommend WD Mybook (With Greenpower drives in it), which doesn't need any sort of cooling even when read/write 7x24
