"Gaming" Rig (is it actually good enough to be classed as a gaming rig?

Started off by getting a load of PaxMate to put in the Akasa Eclipse, as well as running the stock Akasa Amber 120mm fans at 7v. Made a good dint in the noise profile.... also put rubber grommets on most of the screw mounts, as well as rubber o-rings between fans and the case. Vibration cut down a good bit, but it's still a rattly case from hard drive use, which really only bungie cord mods in the 5 1/4 bays would solve to be honest.
Then at some point I bought an ATI 4870 and it all went a bit mental after that, resulting in me scrapping the Akasa Eclipse and getting an Antec Twelve Hundred! Got to say that with the fans on low, it's quieter than the Eclipse and cools a good bit better. I do miss some of the the space in the Eclipse, but having lived with the Antec for a few days now I would find it hard to go back.
Will end up selling the Eclipse to fund other bits for the beast (new PSU likely).... don't get me wrong, the Eclipse is an amazing case, it's just I can't personally be bothered to start physically hacking the case apart for better cooling and the like. It'll find itself a new owner that'll love and cherish it soon though (especially since it's got the 3 hole mobo tray some people seem to covet jealously).

Quite a few things personally.
I replaced the stock case and heatsink fans with decent Scythe ones. Undervolted them via a fan controller and mounted them with rubber. Suspended hard drives with a custom elastic mounting. I replaced my PSU with a corsair one as it has a better noise signature. Bought a Xigmatek HDT 1283 for the processor and an Accelero S1 for my graphics card. Added some Acoustipak to my case and sealed a couple of noise leaking holes.
Finally I could still hear a very low whoosh sound from air travelling through the case. This is pretty much unavoidable but was improved by me clipping out the fan grills from the case. Altogether I'm very pleased with my efforts to quiet my computer. It's now so quiet I could sleep in the same room as it if I wanted to.
