Crossfiring Different Cards
Well, I've got my setup up and running, with a Sapphire HD4850, but I was wondering about adding another GFX card. Now I know it's possible to add another different HD48**, but would that have to downclock to the lowest clock on either card? So for example, if I chucked a 4870 in, would it be pretty much serving as another 4850, or would it actually be using the entire 4870?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Crossfiring Different Cards
Basically there are some reviews out showing this, but I cant remember where they are atm :S. Having a 4870 and a 4850 is not much different to having 2x4850, I presume the 4870 gets limited somehow. I have a friend who has done this and can confirm it is the case. So if your going to add another card I would just save some cash and get another 4850.

Re: Crossfiring Different Cards
Yeah as Hawker said when you crossfire both cards run at the same clocks and number of stream processors so really if ou want crossfire the 4850 makes the most sense. The only reason I can see to get a 4870 would be that in a game where crossfire didn't work at all you could move back to the single 4870 rather than a 4850, but for the number of games that would aply to its probably not worth the extra money.
