But if you are set on buying a new board ( I wouldn't blame you, I love getting new hardware ) then no worries.

Haha, I've already put an offer in for one.

However, saving my DS3 and ~£50 is the favoured option still.

Most Gigabyte boards have a bios backup chip facility and sometimes you can recover a bad flash with a floppy disk and the right software. What is the exact model of your board?

I also have an Eprom programmer so could do it if your really stuck.

When you start the machine does it try to read from the floppy? If yes I'd say you could recovery it with a floppy. You would need to get the bios flash utility and bios file from Gigabyte website put them on a bootable floppy and create an autoexec file to run the flash utility. It is all easy to do.

Just had a look at the gigabyte website for this board.

BIOS crash free protection with physical BIOS and Xpress BIOS Rescue.

Look in your manual and it should tell you how to rescue the bios. Did you do the flash from windows/Q Flash utility?
