yea waiting is abit of a dilema, not just in price but in stock levels. when i started this thread, the 260gtx card i wanted as well as the mobo was out of stock, now its back in stock the PSU i wanted as well as the case is out of stock now

i have also seen prices go up and down faster then a yoyo so its a tuff call. are you sure that CPU cooler is identical to the intel one? if so i may just order than now before that goes out of stock lol. i really dont want to boot up my system without that TRUE fitted in or else i gotta re apply the paste

Are yoyotech a good reliable retailer? im about 20mins away from my work to a yoyotech shop and according to their website, they have a few of the components i want in stock.

they even have the PC A70 case there for £135 as a posed to the £149 that scan are now asking for it.

The thing is, i don't think its feasible to be carrying a full tower case in a box on the way home using the underground trains lol

Re: The Time has come(upgrade Time!)

update: i have decided to go with the original case i wanted before http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Lian-...ull-Tower-Case and not bother with a hdd for now as i just remembered that i have a 500gb sata seagate 32mb cache hdd in my old pc that i can use for the time being.

the price of my build goes down to £1095 inc vat and i have not even considered the free delivery i would get too from scan cheers all im going to order the case first before it goes out of stock again

edit again: the Enermax psu seems to be out of stock if it doesnt show up in stock by next week, is their an alternative at around the same price if not cheaper but have the same quality as this one?

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/650W-...-80-efficiency ?

update: question: do i need to apply new thermal paste on the TRUE on a brand new cpu(i7) thats never been used with the stock cooler or is the thermal paste already in the cpu?

sorry if its a strange question to ask but if they dont have one and i need to apply it myself i will get this http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Arcti...oolers-35-gram tomorrow

Re: The Time has come(upgrade Time!)

Im just wondering if anyone knows which of the following 3 1000w power supplies is best or are they all pretty similar in terms of reliability etc...

    • CoolerMaster Real Power mPRO 1000W Modular PSU
    • CORSAIR CMPSU-1000HX POWER SUPPLY
    • ENERMAX EGX1000EWL GALAXY 1000W POWER SUPPLY

I will choose one of these for my new system

Also Vista Ultimate (64-bit) or Home Premium (64-bit)

Re: The Time has come(upgrade Time!)

I've bought stuff from yoyotech before, not online, poped into one of there stores on my way home from work so I could get stuff there and then. there stuff online is cheaper than in the shop.

They used to have a hexus care section, don't know why it's gone. : and I'd not want to start something about it going just in case.

I will choose one of these for my new system

Also Vista Ultimate (64-bit) or Home Premium (64-bit)
The Galaxy is an outsized monster, so you'd better have a case that will take it. The Corsair unit was apparently made as a 1500W unit (and a unit with the same guts is sold as 1500W by Thermaltake), so it gives you some headroom. Don't think this one was made by Seasonic though. Coolermaster have a patchy record on PSUs, so although this one has had some reasonable reviews I'd not buy it unless the others were out. Are you sure you really need 1000W though?

As for Vista if you have to ask then you'll probably only need Home Premium. Ultimate has additional security and network features.

Thanks for the reply, i went for the corsair, it was around £30 more but in a year or so i will be adding additional gfx card so the extra power is future planning. The coolermaster looked good but what put me off most was the lack of on/off switch on the unit.

As for windows vista i went for home premium, saved me £60, the extras ultimate gives are good but i wouldn't need them at home. I use ultimate at work to make sure my boss' machine is backed up etc. I wanted to know as i have xp pro and found it allowed me to do more than xp home did, but my new machine is rarely gonna be used on a network unlike my old one was at uni.
