Lots of bad RAM!
Hello,
Just wanted to check i'm not doing anything wrong before I decide to RMA most of my RAM!
I have recently started to get random BSODs and the computer is a bit unstable so I ran memtest86+ and found a whole load of errors.
I have 4GB of DDR2-800 RAM installed, 2x1GB of Corsair XMS2 4-4-4-12 and 2x1GB of Geil Ultra 4-4-4-12.
In the BIOS I have set the timings manually to those above and I've also set the voltage to 2.1v.
If I set the BIOS settings to auto, then it puts the timings at 5-5-5-18 (with 2GB and 4GB) even though the sticks are rated at 4-4-4-12.
Only 1 stick of the Corsair RAM works in every motherboard slot without any errors.
The other 3 sticks all come up with errors in every motherboard slot. :surprised:
Definately RMA them?

Re: Lots of bad RAM!
Try loosen the subtiming on the sticks.
I have the P5B (slighly older than your board) and my 2x2GB will give errors if the subtimings are not very loose.
I personally think Asus boards just doesn't like low latency at all. Couldn't get my 4-4-4-12 memory to run at rated either, but it will run fine at 5-4-4-12.
See if it works with 5-4-4-12. If it does, then I wouldn't bother RMAing it.
It you have been running CL4 all the time and couldn't anymore, probably you didn't have enough cooling for the ram and they started deteriorating.

Re: Lots of bad RAM!
Tried the RAM at 5-5-5-18 and still got errors...
Anyone know what Geil are like for RMAs, looks like I have to send the sticks to Taiwan?!
I'll send the Corsair back to Scan after I get the new Geil sticks.

Re: Lots of bad RAM!
Got an email from Geil telling me to send the sticks to Taiwan!
Is there anything else I can do?
I bought the RAM second hand and know that it was originally from OCUK...
