Please help - issues after installing a new hard drive

    Hi all,

I'm having some problems after installing a new WD HDD into my computer.

First time after plugging it in and turning on, the PC failed to boot up and got stuck on the motherboard logo screen, and wouldn't let me into the bios. It did this a couple more times so i unplugged the new HDD. The same error occured with it removed.

I then removed all the other sata cables, so just the main HDD was plugged in. This let the computer boot but it appeared to get stuck on a screen that read "Windows Resume Menu" or something to that effect. It gave two options, but i couldn't select either as it wouldn't respond to keyboard inputs.

So i reset the computer and plugged the main HDD into a different sata port in case it was something wrong with that. Now it seems that the PC gets stuck trying to perform a memory check in the boot screen (it shows the processor specs, underneath that it reads "memory" but that's where it stops).

What the devil is going on here?! I can't work it out. Is there something wrong with the RAM? One point to maybe note is the fact that the other week our washing machine shorted out the house...the PC started not booting after that but it sort of fixed itself til now.

    The motherboard's an abit IP35 Dark Raider, processor's a Q6600, there's 2GBs Corsair XMS2, and a 8800GS. Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks, Tim.

Update: it's booting and going to the "Windows Resume Loader" screen, with the two options being "continue with system resume" and "delete restoration data and proceed to system boot". Neither of which i can select as the keyboard isn't responding!

The blurb at the top says "The last attempt to resume the system from its previous location failed. Attempt resume again?"

    What the??
