Speakers and or headphones for pc gaming?

I have had a 5.1 amp and speakers hooked up to my PC with auzentech xplosion soundcard but the purchase of my new tv they have been hooked up to be my new home theatre system. This leaves my poor pc speakerless. I now have downgraded to a small desk so space is a premium. So i am looking for a sound solution very important for gaming. My options

Amp and bookshelf speakers (may not be enough space)

Some PC speakers was looking at creative T20 or T40

    Normal headphones

    5.1 headphones

    Your suggestion will be appreciated

    Thanks

As a 2.0 set up i doubt you will find any better than the T20 / T40, for a similar price anyway, i was amazed by the sound they produce for the size of them (T20's).

Headphones i'm not sure what to recommend as i haven't really got much experience of those, sorry.

how much are you willing to spend? I'd heartily recommend the Logitech Z2300's, they are the best set of speakers I've ever owned.. they were 80 quid from ebuyer when I got mine... they are 2.1 though so you'd need space for the pretty chunky sub.
