They're called Hiper 'Type-R'.. c'mon, look at who they're marketing towards
The point was that nothing is guaranteed. A better quality PSU will have the same (style of) curve, but shifted to the right (plus it may be slightly "fatter" or "thinner" depending on the SD). Getting a better PSU doesn't guarantee a better result, but the probability is that you will. Anyway the (fore) tail is likely covered by Warranty, and no semi-decent PSU should take kit down with it.
True. But I did go to Uni, City in London. Still, it was a long time ago.
Been using a Hiper type-R 530watt for nearly 3 years and iv never had any problems with it. Its in my old rig that my parents use now.
Sits in a study in their house in south africa (non air-con) so if overheating was a problem with it, id know about it now!

Perhaps we should re-state this as a degree shows that you are capable of doing boring things in the name of self-interest. In any case we shouldn't forget that politicians are expert in the art of (lies, damn lies and) statistics. And we all love politicians.
A degree shows that you're capable of understanding and producing work to a certain standard in your specified field. Nothing more or less. What that means in real life depends on that field and the circumstances in which you're working.
Back to PSUs, the Hiper Type-Rs (seem to) have had a higher rate of failure than most other brand name PSUs. That doesn't mean that any one will fail or that the newer ones are any more prone to failure than any other brand.
Does anyone know the point of 8 pin PCI-E connectors? I could understand if they had more +12v wires but the 2 extra pins are ground???
Say I had a PSU with a 3 year warranty, but everything else in my computer had a 1 year warranty. If the PSU failed after 2 years and took some hardware with it, would the PSU MFR cover the damage to the other hardware?
