    recommend a good headphone

well i'm looking 4 a headphone(due to protests from neighbours just kidding).i'd b using it 4 gaming & to listen 2 music(both r equally important). So i would like 2 hv the best of both worlds without sacrificing one.i was eyeing some 5.1 ch stuff but got doubts when i heard that they r nt that hot on music.plus i read some where that u can have 5.1 ch sound on stereo headphones with the help of 3rd party software.now faced with a dilemma i thought i'd look 4 help here.well can anybody recommend one.

P.S. - better be something under $100(wont mind if its even under $50 but i guess thats just a dream)

Do you have a preference to the type of contact with your ears, e.g. in the ear plugs, cushion that rest on ear, large all around the ear enclosed, etc.

I don't know the proper names for different types, but the large enclosed type seem more comfortable for prolonged usage - for me anyway.

Without a doubt id advise the Sharkoon Majestic 5.1 headset. Iv had it for 2 years, have been using it 4 nights a week with left 4 Dead over the last few weeks and i cant sell it enough!

Its comfy, easy to use, produces good sound quality & the mic works perfectly! With bassy music, if you turn the vibration up (simulates a sub, also works v well) it makes your head vibrate so much it tickles your brain!

edit: surround sound also works nicely with games that support it!

    Re: recommend a good headphone

For music a pair of Grado SR60 or SR80 headphones will do the job. I use a pair of SR80 headphones for gaming and music and they are great. Even the cheaper SR60 will be good. Just check out the reviews on the internet and you will see how good they are!!

If you ever want to sell them too you will always get a decent price for them and they are made in the USA too!!

They are open backed but then all the best headphones usually have this design. Anyway the sound leakage is no issue if you are in your room. It is certainly not like having a pair of speakers.
