    Q6600 Stock Cooler

Now i've bought all the important components for my build and its being put together in 7days (sunday).. now I've run a bit low on money and therefore never got around to buying a new heatsink for the Q6600 which is going to be installed.

Now i'm wondering how effective is the stock cooler during idle and load (while gaming, not stress testing). I'm using an antec 900 with 3 front fans (intake) and 3 exhaust fans (back, top and side panel).

My plan was to purchase a True Black from scan, paired with two good fans (probably Noctua or something) but until then will the system be healthy on the stock fan? How noisy is the stock? and what temperatures should I be expecting?

    Re: Q6600 Stock Cooler

As long as you dont overclock it is fine. The stock cooler is one of the quiestest around tbh with temps of around 40-45 i believe.

Oh, so nothing to worry about then as I don't plan on overclocking the first 6months - a year anyway.. I don't like the idea of voiding the warranty on day of purchase

Heh, well as much as i'd like quiet, after my previous rig which ran almost 24/7 with a stock cooler in a tiny case with no airflow and 60 & 80mm fans on 100%, i'm sure it'll be nothing

Why oh why did these stop being sold. They are virtually silent and a fantastic price.
