    Question Memory frequency question

I have a A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard with an AMD 2100 overclocked to 2200MHz 200x11 with 2xsamsung PC3200 memory sims, in they bios i can only set the memory frequency to just over 200MHz, otherwise it hangs-up when i boot up the mashine, is this because it is like the processor frequency where it is half the frequency.

Could someone tell me why this is?

    Thanks

It's probably because your memory can't handle being overclocked much over 200MHz. Your best bet is to try relaxing the memory timings a bit. That might give it a bit more overclocking head-room

    ok
but isn't PC3200 400MHz memory so should that not show in the bios or is it like the CPU frequency where it is half the ammount.

    Thanks for the help

Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying matey

Actually I think I do.. Lol... Yes like the CPU FSB frequency, in the BIOS it'll be set as half of what the actual rate is (because it's all DDR - Double Data Rate). So a 166FSB and Memory Frequency will mean a real bus speed of 333MHz. Ditto 200, it will be 400MHz, which is what your RAM is rated at.

So yes, in the BIOS, you set your FSB to 200 and it'll be 400MHz, and as long as the dividers on your memory settings are 1/1 (or 1:1 ) then the memory will run at 400MHz too

    Glad to be of help!

By the way, that 2100+ overclocked to 3200 speeds is quite an achievement in my opinion!!
