Help for a ASUS p5k-e build !!!
Hi guys,
Found the forum today while looking for a bit of help with my new system build probs.
I have just built a system with the following components.
Asus p5k-e wifi motherboard
E6550 processor
Radeon hd2600xt graphics card
Seagate 750gb sata hd
Seagate 250gb sata hd
Coolermaster elite case
Artic cooling freezer 7 pro fan
Asus drw2014l1t DVD
4gb Patriot ddr2 pc2-6400 800mhz (2x2gb sticks)
Here is my prob, anytime I try and install Windows (xp pro or vista) I get BSOD with the following message,IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL, and stop message 0X0000000A.
After a bit of Googling this message it seems that the errors are mostly related to RAM.Does anyone know if Patriot memory is compatible with the P5K-E mobo and if it is any ideas on a fix??
Cheers
Kevin
PS.some other forum users have mentioned Patriot memory in their system specs!!

Try set the tRFC of ram to 42 or higher. And perhaps the other subtimings as well.
I think it is a common fault with Asus (not sure about the other brands) that defaults to settings that are suitable for 1GB sticks.
Also don't forget to set the ram voltage to what is stated on the stick.
For example on my P5B (its old), the timing settings don't go HIGH enough (i.e. no CL7 setting or tRFC higher than 42) when my two sets of modules (one pair CL4 one pair CL6) could not run at their rated (4-4-4-12 and 6-6-6-18) due to over-tight sub-timings (even though already as loose as I can).

Thanks for the super quick reply!!
Although I have built numerous systems I am abit of a NooB when it comes to altering bios settings, they usually work first time, but I will read through the ASUS manual tonight and try tomorrow evening.
Once again thanks for the help.
