Ga ep35 ds3 dram overvoltage ?
Hi guys ,
recently bought some ocz reaper 6400
http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/552/oczramxo7.th.jpg
could someone confirm what voltage i'm actually running at ?
i've used hw monitor and it says 2.1 across the board ,but over at the ocz forum one of the "staff" said they advise using 2.1v for their ram...that was it ...no how to or why....just advice to use 2.1v
all my bios settings for voltage are set at auto\normal.
when i use the pc health monitor it says 2.1 volts...(with little fluctuations)
if i set my voltage options to manual and then set my dram overvoltage to +0.3 it still says 2.1v in pc health monitor.
was the "moderator" at ocz forum just giving me the auto answer or have i made a "boo-boo" somewhere ?
Basically i'm after some help from someone who has more knowledge than me to give me a definite answer as to what my voltage should be for my new ram (OCZ2RPR10664GK),just for my own piece of mind.
Link to ocz forum thread.
thx guys .
Re: Ga ep35 ds3 dram overvoltage ?
RAM voltage can only be read by specific system software (like if gigabyte has their own voltage tool). If you set it to 2.1v in the bios that's what it should be. I suggest if you think it's not changing run a memtest on your ram to make sure it passes then you can be sure it isn't faulty and the ram is most likely at 2.1v.
Only other way to check would be to use a multimeter.
Re: Ga ep35 ds3 dram overvoltage ?
At a guess your board supports EPP profiles so when set to auto it sets the voltage to 2.1v when you set the voltage manually it defaults to 1.8v when you ad +0.3v that takes you back to 2.1v again.
Anyway 2.1v is the manufacturers specified voltage if it will run stable at lower voltage all to the good try it and see (just don't do anything important until your sure its stable).
Re: Ga ep35 ds3 dram overvoltage ?
dunno if it "supports" epp but i've since opening this thread used gigabytes easytune 5 to confirm that my ram is running at 2.1.
finally got peace of mind.
