Asus Xonar D2X vs Auzentech Prelude vs X-fi for gamming

I currently own a Auzentech xplosion and its a great card but now I have to game with headphones or 2 speakers. My 5.1 system has gone to my home theatre system. xplosion does not support 3D sourrond sonund like the other 2 cards prelude uses cmss & xonar uses dolby headphone so was thinking of upgrading the card is it necessary? Which card would be better? What is the creative x-fi titanium like? I have been told creative cards weren't that great.

Dunno about auzentech - seems to be a great card. As for the Xonar versus X-fi - it gotta be the X-fi. Using the gamer card myself but if buying now I would go for the X-Fi Titanium card - the only real PCI-e card (Xonar d2x is a PCI card with a PCI to PCI-e bridge and this is why it requires extra power connector and is capped at PCI bus speed for internal operation).

Do you want perfect EAX (XFi) or superior sound quality and no hassle drivers (Xonar)?

There is no out-and-out better card.

I bought an Auzentech recently and have been pleased with it. Drivers seem solid and it's ability to take your multichannel PC sound and convert it into dolby digital or DTS is great (if you have the necessary external hardware, amp/speakers etc...)

if it's solely for gaming then the prelude, as it has decent components and eax 5.0

Thanks, does anyone know about cmss or dolby headphone which is better I will be gaming a lot with headphones.
