    Re: Price Check: E4500

I have seen them go for around 40 to 55 quid on Ebay. I am thinking of selling my E4500 too BTW. The E4300 seems to go for a similar price too!! What have you upgraded to??

An E6600, I'm kinda wishing I'd held out for an E6750 now (avoiding 45nm cos the IP35 Pro seems to be allergic to it) but I'll see what she can do when I get her fitted this weekend.

What're you thinking of upgrading to?

    Re: Price Check: E4500

I managed to get hold of a cheap Q6600(under 80 quid). I did not really need it as my E4500 could get to 2.95ghz. However the E4300 was a better over clocker but my motherboard(975X) did not like the E4300(at 3.1ghz) and 4 RAM sticks because at a higher FSB it had issues with all slots filled!! Had to reduce the overclock a lot as a result. The E4300 went into a Linux rig I cobbled together from some bits I had lying around.

The 975X I have is not compatible with 45nm CPUs otherwise I may have bought an E5200 instead!!

However the Q6600 could get to 3ghz and I use two RAM sticks now so it seems OK. It was a bit of an impulse buy but it should do me fine for a while.
