SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
Well hello, Like most people I am here in a last ditch attempt to get some answers before I pick this new PC up and throw in a crusher at my local scrapyard.
I am really disappointed at the NONE replys from ABIT dispite sending 3 emails a filling in a form feedback.
So the issues - I have a new IX38 QuadGT with 4gig ram and a gigabyte 9800GTX+ graphic card. All work well when you wait up to 30mins and 6-20 attempts to startup the PC.
The bios issues are a minefield and do not seem to have been worked out or tested by Abit Technicians I have tried almost all versions of Bios Including version 14 (supplied).
This is what happens leave the PC over 2 hours switched off and try to boot up. Codes flash on the motherboard as follows 0.0 8.3, 9.0, 9.8, 9.9 Then the PC shuts down and attempts to restart I then get 9.0 and then have to wait for up to 30 mins then I get C.1, C.3, A.1 8.6 and finally F.F. and its then OK.
If I power down the PC wait 5 mins it will again startup - shutdown -startup almost straight away on the second attempt. Occasionally I get the code F.0. which makes me feel its saying :censored: FVCK OFF!
I have had reading of 180 degree on the cpu in bios with one version and a alarm screaming it's brains out however the same bios says the individual cores are 34 - 38 degrees! Put Bios Version 12 on same issues but CPU temp reads at only 38-45 degrees! and no alarm. When the PC first trys to startup there is no display on the monitors either. Any ideas! - I have a busy video editing studio and work is starting to pile up! I wish I'd bought a Mac now!

Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
welcome to Hexus.
however, this part of the forum is inappropriate for your rant & a full system spec. (incl makes & models) would help people to potentially help you.
btw, you are aware that abit are out of the mobo business so whilst they have said that they will continue support for existing mobos it's expected to be pretty limited in terms of BIOS development?
Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
Hello, Blimey that was a quick reply! I just a pity ABIT can't do the same!!! (LOL) PLEASE forgive me I am new to this type of way of asking for help. It's just that anger is getting the better of me now. I noticed that I had posted in the wrong place after I had done it sorry!
I will try to give you a system spec now Hope this helps!

Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
which exact Intel CPU model?
which exact RAM make, model & configuration?
which PSU?
that BIOS date means it's quite old, you may want to try the 16 beta http://nf7sextreme.lvcoyote.com/M704B_16.zip
Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
I understand its a Intel Core 2 Quad processor - ram is 2 x 2 gig corsair sticks - PSU is coolermaster 650W
Hope that helps
Thanks
Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards

there are a lot of Intel Quads, which core & stepping is important.
but which exact Corsair RAM (again, they make a lot with varying specs.) & have you checked that the RAM voltage & timings are set correctly?
eXtreme Power 650W (RP-650-PCAP)?
Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
Reported this thread and asked that it be moved to the correct part of the Hexus forums.
Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
Hello Everyone who tried to help me. I am sorted now in the end I took the Motherboard back for testing and it was found to be faulty on the slot one! The seller didn't have a replacement board but did have a ASUS P50. It is "Rock Solid" motherboard everything works and has made me really happy.
Once again many thanks and sorry about the posting in the wrong place.
Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
Oh before I forget - still had no replies from ABIT!
Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
moved by meith expiring Rediect from original place.
not that it matters, as he has a new board now
Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
Hmmm, havent Abit officially shut down, thats what I heard. So im not surprised your not getting any replies from them, theyve certainly shut down their forum :S.
Hawker
(I know this is technically not relevant since his problem is sorted, but...it might be relevant to people not knowing)
Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
they are supposed to be still supporting (incl. warranty support) existing mobos & there is some evidence for this e.g. there is a beta BIOS for the AX78 adding Phenom II support.

I never new that how come Abit have withdrawn from making mobo's have made some great boards.
Re: SCRAPYARD! for IX38 QuadGT Mboards
they couldn't make the return on investment that their parent company wanted them to.
Given that both Asus & Foxconn are expected to report losses on their mobo business this quarter those left at abit will be probably be patting themselves on the back.
