Question Need advice on future build.

    Hi Guys.

Im planning on building a new PC system and I need advice on some of the components I am going to buy.

I im planning to overclock the CPU to around 3.0 to 3.2 GHZ and possibly the RAM and graphics card.

    Here are the specs.

Sharkoon Rebel 9 ECONOMY Black Edition ATX £34.49

    Asus P5K-EPU, iP35, S 775, PCI-E (x16), DDR2 1200MHz(OC), SATA II, ATX £64.76

    Corsair (2x2GB) TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC2-6400 (800) £ 40.99
    OR
    2GB (2x1GB) Corsair TwinX DDR2 XMS2 Dominator, PC2-8500 (1066) £38.69

    Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 G0 SLACR, Kentsfield Core, Socket 775, 2.40 GHz 1066MHz 8MB Cache, OEM £137.61

Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro £17.12

    500 GB Seagate ST3500320AS Barracuda 7200.11, SATA 300, 7200 rpm, 32MB Cache, 8.5 ms, NCQ £43.54

    LG GH22NS40 22x DVD±R, 16xDVD±DL, DVD+RW x8/-RWx6 ,12xRAM SATA, Black, OEM £15.51

    512MB Gainward 9600 GT Bliss, PCI-E 2.0(x16), 1800MHz GDDR3, GPU 650MHz, 64 Cores £82.05
    OR
    384MB XFX 9600 GSO XXX, PCI-E 2.0 (x16), 1900MHz GDDR3, GPU 680MHz, 96 Cores £68.99

650W NorthQ Black Magic Flex Bulk £53.87

Plus 3 120mm Fans and 2 80mm Fans to cool the system.

Do you think this system will work, with the overclocking and stuff?

What RAM and Graphics car do you think I should go for?

    Any help is apreciated.

    Thanks again.

It should all work together fine, i don't know that motherboard so can't really comment as to how well it will overclock.

Personally i would say go for 4gb, especially if you will be running vista, that memory should overclock a bit, again i really wouldn't want to say exactly how well but then you can use the dividers on the motherboard to keep it within its limits.

Graphics i wouldn't get either of those, for another £10 or so over the 9600gt price you can get a 9800gt

All in all a nice rounded system.

I would swap a few things they would be,

PSU - Check Corsair, Seasonic and Enermax (and if they are out of your price range Silverstone, FSP and Xigmatek) for that system you will not require anything more than 450W from a decent manufacturer.
Memory - go with 4GB the Q6600 will not push DDR2-800 past its limits in fact you probably will not even need to overclock the memory.
HDD - Seagate have been having some problems with their 7200.11 drives check Samsung F1 and WD AAKS drives for quiet speed

Finally Motherboard personally I would stretch for a decent P45 board (will cost ~£90-100)

As for graphics card it really depends on what resolution you plan on gaming at the higher the resolution the more you need a faster card, if the budget stretches then I would look at the HD4830 £90 big step up in performance over the 9600GT for a relatively small sum of money.
