PSU Identification

Hi there,

I'm looking for a way to id what wattage my PSU is. It came with my computer when I got it from PC world (Yes I know...) but it still works fine to power my 9800pro (with good oc) stabily.

I'm upgrading and looking to do some CPU ocing and the PSU is important if i want to do this, from what I've read. Is there a utility to give me info on the PSU. As far as I know, its unbranded, and even when I opened the case, I STILL couldn't find anything on it (maybe I'm blind)

So how can I find out?

Is the PC a pre-built one like HP or something? Perhaps someone can help identify from that if it is?

Have you tried unscrewing it (should just be 4 screws at the back of the case) and checking the covered sides for labels? It shouldn't be blank, it has to have some labels on it!

Hey al,

I'm sure I've tried that in the past and there was nothing on the labels. I'm afraid its just a PC world 'Advent' system. The only things that remain from the orig are the mobo (Soon to be replaced) and the PSU. Been trying to sort it out for years!

Still, its served me well so far (touch wood)

Hmm, even though I have no clue about which PSU it is, a quick Google around and I'm seeing a lot of negative comments about their PSU's (and obviously their PC's and service in general ). I would suggest you play it safe and get a decent one for such a powerful little system.

Look around these forums, CWT are quality PSU's at extremely reasonable prices (I can vouch for that)! Or you can go for Antec or Enermax if you have a little more to spend.

Yeah,

I heard that CWTs are good value for money. May try to scour around for a decent 2nd hand antec, but if not, i think CWT will be good. Where do you recommend getting them from (I'll research a bit more when the time comes)?
