This is what I've gathered from these forums: Q-Tec - Bad. Very very bad. Choose a nice CWT from scan.co.uk instead.

    Not necessarily, just variable.
Mine for example has been powering an nForce2 system for over a year & has better rails than either my Antec or CWT.

You must need alot of power if you need a power supply more than 550W

I suppose there's a lot of luck in it as to whether your Q-Tec PSU works alright. Some people use one for months without a problem, but it's just best not to take any risks.

The q-tec 550w isn't a "true" 550w, its 550w peak output, ask someone else if you want a more techy reply

oh and I run 6 hdd's, 8x case fans + lotsa other stuff, so I need a real (read expensive) 550w psu

Yeah i heard that the 450W ones make nearly as much power as the 550W one

I've got one and it has never caused me any problems. Apart from the fact that it is a replacement, as the original one I had blew up in my face! But that was just a one off I'm sure!!

Then either your Antec and CWT are faulty, Or your taking readings off the motherboard, which have a 99% chance of being wrong if your Q-tec is reading better rails. Read them with a multimeter/Iscope and compare them.

    Avoid q-tec like the plague...

Go for a cwt from scan. In the extremely unlikely event that it blows up your system you can come back and flame us

Power supplies are really worth the cash- dont scimp as you will regret it in the long run.

Or I happen to have a particularly good example of the breed.
Fair comment about reading off the mobo except that if it is the same mobo it is the same sensors & same error - the Qtec has stronger rails
