Faulty memory of bad setup?
Hi,
I stupidly bought some HyperX memory for my G31M-S2L board not realising that the RAM is not on the list of supported memory. Since building the machine, I have had no end of blue screens (Vista 64) and random resets (when trying with XP 32), and antivirus software (AVG and Avast) freezing and becoming corrupt.
My question is if I run a memory test (which I have done on Vista and it brought back memory errors) is that a guarantee that the RAM is faulty, or could it just be that the MB doesn't like the memory? Note that I believe I have setup the MB correctly to use the memory's correct frequency etc.
Thanks for you help.
Re: Faulty memory of bad setup?
was it ok at stock settings ?
have you put the voltage up to 2.1?
Re: Faulty memory of bad setup?
Seems to be problematic at 1.8 and 2.0 (recommended voltage).
Re: Faulty memory of bad setup?
have you put the latest bios on the pc (if not for gods sake dont use a windows based bios tool)
u can also try defaul timings and 2.1 volts
Re: Faulty memory of bad setup?
Ram looks to be dodgy, RMA it.
