    Unhappy Need new PSU - Help required

    Hi, I have recently just came across a ATi Radeon HD2900XT 512mb and the "manual" recommends a 500W+ pack. The card is pretty juicy according to reviews I have read. Around 210W before oc.

    So..

    I am curretly running:
    AMD Athlon 64 3700+ @ 2.21GHz;
    nVidia 7300GT 512MB (Just about frazzled =[ );
    DFI Infinity nF4 SLI Mobo;
    Maxtor 160MB HDD;
    1.5GB Ram (1GB DDR2 + 512MB DDR);
    LG DVD/CD/RW;
    on a 350W PSU =|.

    Basicly I am in need of a new power pack an could do with some expert / useful advice. I have a budget will stretch to £60 I guess.

    Hope you lot can help

    Update:
    So far I have been suggested;
    NorthQ 850W @ £60 from £90 - http://www.scan.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductId=25422
    Corsair TX650W @ around £50 / £60
    FPS 700W @ £30 from £60 - http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?ProductId=22926
    Coolermaster eXtreme 650W @ £56 - http://www.microdirect.co.uk/(17221)...RP650PCAP.aspx

    Could someone look at this for me please? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Antec-NeoPower...3A1|240%3A1318

    The Corsair TX650W would get my vote. I have a corsair HX (hx modular TX non-modular, but basically the same from what I understand) and it has been superb for my purposes, running a lot off it.

    There is a pretty decent review here. A quick look around you can pick it up for £55, from Specialtech. But do look around...

    You don't need anything like 700W to power your rig, but the 700W FSP still on today only (currently @ £28.69) is a cracking bargain and would leave stacks of potential for the future.

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspx#4

    Plenty of decent stuff available for £30 as linky and Scan shows ^^ Will leave other reccomandations to the experts, but they will ask what make/model is your current PSU as if its decent you'll be surprised what it'll power, all about amps on the 12v rail and quality of the guts... Have you tried it with the 2900XT yet?

    Thanks for the reply and links. Is that 700 Watter any good? It says it's £68 when I click it.

    The current is an "Allied" (never heard of them) and I can't hook it up due to lack of PCI-E 6slot connectors and I haven't got the original lead.

    You have too click buy from the today only page (link I gave you) to grab it at the discounted price. I only got mine last Tuesday, but so far have been impressed, tbh I bought it off the back of all the comments and happy customers in that thread I linked too. FSP also being a quality brand helped.

    You can get adaptors that will take a couple of Molex plugs to PCIe such as http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Hiper...EE-TRAVEL-CASE) but its still a question of if your PSU is putting out enough juice.
    *Edit On the side it should have a sticker with its total Wattage and amps or wattage across the rails (+3.5v, +5v, +12v, -12v, -5v, -3.5v). Your new graphics card, like any modern card will require a certain number of amps on a +12v rail in order to work properly. Its not so much about total wattage, say 500W, but more about how much of that power is actually delivered on the rails that matter. Cheapo PSUs have a tendancy to fail at delivering anything like there stated wattage where it matters.

    RE PSU, I don't know that brand either, will go out on a limb and guess the suggestion from those in the know will be to look at upgrading to something more well known and proven rather than chancing it. If the FSP doesnt take your fancy, must admit it is massive overkill, have a look at Enermax, other FSP stuff and Corsair as has already been suggested, all very well respected, top quality brands. Look at stuff ~400W upwards and see if anything takes your fancy, consider if you want things like Modular cabling too, drives the price up, but some people love it. Will leave commenting or advising on other specific units to those a little more educated on PSUs than myself (only couple of months back I was in the same boat!), sure the morning shift will be along shortly.

    Yerp the logo looks the same, my model is about 2years+ old now so that could be the new model. Mine doesn't have a red switch thingy like that one.

    +3.3v (20A), +5v(12A), +12V 1(10A), +12V 2(13A),-12V(0.3A) & +5VSB(2.5A).

    The FSP selling for £28 is 700W FSP700-80GLN SATA/PCI-E 83%+ Eff Green ATX12v 2.01 EPS12v OEM + Xclio PSU and Port Tester with LED. It is immediately below another 700W FSP. Scan also have a 400W FSP for £29, a 400W SilverStone Strider for £31 and a 450w FSP for £31 on their Today Only.

    These will change around lunchtime on Monday.

    I think you're right, the HX is built by Seasonic and the TX by CWT - generally speaking... Looking around though I am under the impression that the TX650W is manufactured by Seasonic...

    There are some interesting notes here

    The seasonic ones being of slightly better quality and quieter...

    As for the PSU, in my opinion it is one of the most important parts of the system. Providing a clean stable supply to the mainboard/components. If the PSU pops/goes, then it will likely take out a good portion of your components with it...

    Also, before you finally settle on one, look at the ratings in more details. The majority are rated at ~25C whereas your actually operating temp will be closer to ~50C, this will have an impact on the efficiency and output of the PSU.

    I don't know much about the others mentioned, but the Corsair are class leaders with the PSU and the TX650 will see you good for a number of years...

    I bought one of these recently... seems to do the trick.

    Not the most powerful thing in the world but seems to be quiet and no problems so far.

    P.s it's supposedly made by seasonic

    If you want to stick to yur budget then I would go with mehmeh's suggestion.
    I had the Epsilon version and it proved fine. Ran 7900GTX's in SLi followed by a 8800GTX and now acts as a backup unit should any of my other PSU's fail.
