24" monitor max budget £250
Hi guys,
Well its time i put the old 19" CRT away and get with the times. I have a budget of £250 for a 24" monitor which will be used 100% of the time on a PC and mostly for gaming and work.
I was considering http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/24-Sa...cd-m-5-ms-VESA
Im guessing because its only going to be used on a PC that not having HDCP wont matter. The only problem I have is that i cant find any professional reviews, just user ones which are glowing but I find hard to trust.
Could anyone give me a hand ?
Thanks in advance,
Poons.

Samsung 2443BW is a very good screen imho I got one just before christmas.

Re: 24" monitor max budget £250
you could get the Samsung SM2443BW at play using the RAC 5% off thing look at hotukdeals
that will tell you how. I used the RAC thing (not a member) and got it from play for £199 when it
was a bit cheaper.
Re: 24" monitor max budget £250
Would you believe it play has the SM2443BW for £199 and thats without the RAC thing. They
seem to change their prices quite a lot. It was £219 yesterday when I checked earlier £209
and now £199...

Re: 24" monitor max budget £250
Thanks for the help, I ended up ordering the SM2443BW from Play for £189.99 (using the RAC discount). Stonking deal if the monitor performs well...which i hope it does.

TN Panel. Yuk. I would have rather bought a second hand 2407
Re: 24" monitor max budget £250
I bet over 95% of LCDs sold to consumers are TN..

2nd had dell on ebay... 140 maybe...
i was keen on this thread to know how quality has improved since 04 + info. i guess looking at newegg reviews + specs will do that.
selector website sucked btw:
Note: If your selection is blank, please go back and try alternative options. Try changing your pricing bracket or being less strict about some options.

The selector isn't perfect, but if you do know what spec you want and you do have a reasonable price range for that spec, it will show you the best comparable models. I think its a bit harsh to say it sucked because you don't know how to use it.
The whole TFTcentral website is pretty good - check out the guides/reviews on there too. Read this:

SiM i would be willing to bet your system doesnt have the top of the line components 100% of the time. Most people who consider buying a new monitor will work out fairly quickly that TN based panels are not the best but they certainly can perform well and are relatively cheap if you get a decent one. Oh and buying 2nd hand monitors have come back to bite me the 2 times in the past i have tried it =).
I definitely fit into your sensitively put "p00r lal" category =)
