4870 X2 vs GTX 295 test coming soon

4870 X2 vs GTX 295 test coming soon
Hi all, tomorrow ill be posting a personal benchmark of the HD 4870 X2 vs GTX 295.

The specs of the computer (Thankyou Helios) will be posted in more detail but here is a quick brief of the machine me and my friend will be testing on:

    -core i7 920 @3.8
    -6gb ocz plats 1600 cas 8-7-7-20
    -biostar x58
    -pcpc 750w quad
    -wd 320gb aaks

I know this has been done before, but i guess it will be nice to see how our test ends up.

Also we'll be playing a few quick samples of some games to check stuttering and overall Gpu load times.

All the best for now. keep tuned!

    27 JAN 2008 - 13:58:
    -------------------------------

Ok first little thing i have noticed since installing my GTX295... all games now run flawlessly whereas the ATI 4870 X2 was getting literally appauling stuttering issues. Me and my friend had played around with drivers even going back to 8.11 and 8.10, nothing was solving the x2 stutter.

Games it included were.. well.. everything!

So just as a side note, the GTX295 has fixed my computer problem of stuttering.

    My computer specs are:

    EVGA nForce 680i
    4GB 1066Mhz OCz RAM 5-5-5-15
    1000W enermax Galaxy PSU
    Q6600 2.4ghz @ 3.69ghz
    Samsung Spintpoint F1 320Gb + 2 x western digital 400gb hardrives
    37 inch LG 1080p screen.
    --------------------------------------------------------------

Benchmarks will be done later this evening and will post screenies etc.

And yes, Crysis is included although already, the gtx295 is playing it like a dream on my crap mobo and cpu.

    Drivers that are being used:

    Spec of Test Computer
    -core i7 920 @3.8
    -6gb ocz plats 1600 cas 8-7-7-20
    -biostar x58
    -pcpc 750w quad
    -wd 320gb aaks

    INITIAL RESULTS:
    UPDATE: 28th Jan 01:39am

So we had a problem, we forgot Helios only owned a 19inch 1280 x 1024 screen. But we slaved on anyway to give you a quick insight at low res settings.

We run the graphic cards on stock and are excited to mess around with them a bit to see what scores we can get.

You will probably be expecting this:

There was so major stutter issue with Far Cry 2 and either the framerate for Crysis or another stuttering issue was occuring in crysis.

This stutter is ofcourse what many 4870 users are complaining of and due to its type of problem, i am thinking it is very much driver related.

However, the ATI 4870X2 is working wonders on that I7 processor.

Here are the settings used for both FC2, Crysis Warhead and UT3:

We will ofcourse be re doing these tests as originally planned on my monitor. So please stay tuned.

Crysis plays so nice on 1920 x 1080 4 x AA. Its so so smooth. And Mirrors Edge fps plays like CSS or something because its so smooth.

3dMark06 doesn't reflects the cards capabilities, FPS comparison is what really counts! More comparison on Games at 1920x1080 please!

Really? That's pretty surprising, but good news if it's correct..... any benchmarks of that mate?

Why is that surprising its 260 core 240's in sli I suspect its around 40-50fps which is smooth for my eyes. ATI always does better in 3d mark

Re: 4870 X2 vs GTX 295 test coming soon

Ok so i sent the ATI X2 back for an RMA to see if theres a problem with the card.. When it returns i can go back and do the higher res tests.
