    IDE/SATA Enclosures

    Hi All,
I'm looking at buying a IDE/SATA Enclosure, preferable with eSata as well as USB, and Scan has a decent selection - mainly: Newlink NL-HD29 and AKASA P2 Series(AK-ENP2SATA-BKUK)

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts/reviews/recommendations? And also if anyone knows the HD size limitations of these enclosures, as I’ve heard that some enclosures as limited to 400GB PATA/IDE and 750-1TB SATA.

    Cheers

The Akasa unit is good, i have three

No idea if they can cope with more than 1TB, but I can't think why they would have that limitation. Perhaps some documentaion only lists 1TB drives because anything bigger wasn't available before it was released.

    Re: IDE/SATA Enclosures

The 400GB limit keeps popping up with enclosures and i've seen it being mentioned with other Akasa enclosures. What confuses me though is that i've seen other enclosures stating the 400GB PATA 750GB-1TB SATA limits, so i'm sure wanting to confirm this before purchasing?
Perhaps i should post this in the scan sections

    Re: IDE/SATA Enclosures

I've got the Newlink one. It's been very good - esata and usb2, easy to set up although you don't get any back-up software with it. My only complaint about it is the front. There are 5 stars that light up blue on the front which makes it look really tacky (but everything else is blue 'n' black in my system) but other than that no complaints.

Edit: no 400Gb limit problems as I've got a 500Gb in there atm.
