    Re: OCZ vs CORSAIR?

Its all down to personal preference.
I must say though that its alot easier to RMA to OCZ than Corsair.

Also, for some reason that no-one actually knows, Corsair does carry a price premium.

The OCZ i run overclockes very well and has been rock solid ever since installed (1 year almost).

OCZ is actually cheaper and every bit as good.

    Re: OCZ vs CORSAIR?

    i say crucial ballistix!

Out of the two (corsair & OCZ) i have found OCZ to overclock better but i think technically it is basically the same stuff. Thusly it all comes down to whats cooler and i say OCZ looks and sounds cooler

well i went with OCZ even though i've not had good experiences with my RAM, but i believe that was the motherboard limiting it.. looks very good.. and it always stays cool..

    Re: OCZ vs CORSAIR?

my old pc has Corsair ram. i had to rma the ram at one point sending the ram to america once they had sent me the replacement ram but it was fast and effective.
my current pc has OCZ ram mainly due to a good deal from the company i brought the computer from at the time.i wouldnt hesitate to reccomend eiether brand. my psu is also OCZ.

    Re: OCZ vs CORSAIR?

I think the early corsair xms2 was very good from what I have read in reviews but then it changed and became pretty mediocre. It's the same with geil's ultra series. Mine is stupidly good (bought for way too much considering how much it is now ) and I've had 2 sets since which aren't bad but are nothing like as good.

OCZ and Crucial seem the most consistant from what I can see.

Geil don't really give me any problems and so I would only be tempted away with a serious bargain from one of the others. I wouldn't hesitate to use any of the others though. I had a set of crucial ballistix and xms2 both PC5400 and they were fine, havn't used OCZ yet but I have no problem trying them.

Thus as long as it's one of the decent brands, geil, OCZ, corsair, g-skill, crucial .. I dont care

    Re: OCZ vs CORSAIR?

My Corsair XMS2 800MHz 4-4-4-12 is running at 998MHz 5-5-5-15 unfortunately while this is one the whole plenty fast enough (if I had a 266 or 200 MHz CPU) it is now the limiting factor for my overclock. My E6550 currently running at 3.5GHz and while that is plenty fast enough I am curious as to how far it will go and more to the point how far my motherboard will go!

hear hear! ballistix are the best. but out of ocz and corsair its down to price. ocz ones are cheaper and perform all the same. corsair is just if you want those black dhx thingies. Apart from that I can't see why you'd get it. Most people think its the best for games and such etc. I think we all have a little hate for corsair because thats all scan ever sells. Or am I alone on that one.

Will the P5e take 1000mhz? I can just drop it to 800mhz and reduce the timings ??

Wouldn't bother with the reaper stuff regardless but the platinum is better and your motherboard will see it as PC6400 when you first install it anyway.

yea aren't the the 8000 or 8500 models always 6400's with 5-5-5-18 timings and higher voltage requirements?
