Can a faulty Keyboard cause the PC to have problems?
Just curious if anyone has had problems with a pc that has had them scratching their heads as to what is causing it only to find that the keyboard when replaced cured the problem!!
A mate has a problem where every now and again (Not all the time) the PC boots up, continues to loading windows and then shuts off!! He has tried everything that has been suggested to him but i am sure i have read that a faulty keyboard / connection can cause issues with a pc. Is that right? Anyone solved a problem by replacing the keyboard? (I don't mean replacing a broken keyboard for a new one when it was 'Obvious' the keyboard was borked!)

No but yeah but no.
or I've replaced faulty keyboards.
never had a non-obsiously faulty keyboard that was causeing other issues
However I can see how such a thing could cause problems, it's a live socket so if the keyboard was trying to pull too much power or feeding it back down the wrong pin it could cause all sorts of issues.
Side note best keyboard related issue I've had was trying to connect a french laptop to the wireless at work, had me puzzeled for ages untill I realised that on a french keyboard to get numbers out of the top row of keys requires shift without it you get the symbols instead, which you don't realise when typeing in a password.

i had a nightmare with one of my old wireless keyboards. Every time i booted up the screen froze for like 2 mins just as i got into windows. I had to restart to get the computer to recognize the keyboard, it was a nightmare i had to double boot for like 2 months until i figured out that it actually waas the keyboard at which point it became a pile of broken plastic on my bedroom floor :D

So keyboards can cause issues then.

Not necessarily a faulty keyboard. A fellow member here has one of those newish Logitech Illuminated keyboards, but the PC won't boot properly if it's plugged in. However, if it and another keyboard are both plugged in, it boots and works fine. The keyboard itself is fine, but there's something funky going on between it and the rest of the system. For the record, 3 other instances of the keyboard work without any issue on other systems I use.

Well from my experience i would say yes but as gav said it could be other things such as just an odd incompatability.
