Price Check Fellow Hexites, need your advice please!!

    Hi all,

As most of you know, I was studying in London last year. But for two months from July I was debilitated (by Labrynthitis) and it took me over 2 months to recover. Long story short, I put a lot of my stuff in storage and flew home.

I plan to return later on in the year to clear out my stuff from storage and now sell most of the unwanted items on Hexus, to folks I can trust (it's just great being part of this community!). Since time has passed, could anyone give me a rough idea of what I can expect on the following items:

    • Apple iMac 24" with the following specs and 3-year Apple Care (ACPP) for £1300.00 on 22 Sept 07
      Processor2.8GHZ INTEL CORE 2 EXTREME
      Memory2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
Hard Drive 500GB Serial ATA Drive
      Optical DriveSuperDrive 8X(DVD+R DL/DVD+RW)
      Modem NO MODEM
      Apple Software Solutions None
Mouse from AOS Apple Mighty Mouse
MAC OS LanguageWIRED KYBRD & MAC OS X KIT-B
      Country KitCOUNTRY KIT-GBR
    • LG 32LG5000 32" 720p (HD ready) LCD TV 1366x768 50000:1 500cd/m2 6.5ms, paid £450.00 to eBuyer on 30th June 08
    • Dyson DC20 Stowaway Bagless Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner (Asthma rated) £200 on 8th March 08
    • PS3 40GB PAL from Harrods HMV, for £299. Will throw in Dualshock3 controller + MGS4 + GTAIV. Purchased in June 08, mint and complete boxed.

iMac pictured on the right, in mint condish:

The LG, used only till 1st week September before being put in storage, hence mint as well:

I also have a HP printer with scanner on top; can't remember the exact model but paid around 100 quid for it back in Jan 08.

Thanks again for all your help n' advice; this will greatly help me in deciding whether to list on Hexus or send 'em back home (either seamail, DHL, or chuck in the hold of aircraft)...

    Cheers
    Mike

P.S. I can't use eBay since I shut down my PayPal account; I started getting paranoid about linking my bank account with it after hearing far too many 'horror' stories - HEXUS would be the only way since I can deal with trusted members and opt for direct banxfer/cash over counter when I'm back.

Well, google is probably your first port of call. eBay is probably best for what you can reasonably ask people to pay, even if you're not selling on it.

The LG 32LG5000 is going for around £360 new online, so you could ask for £300 plus postage.

The DC20 is going for an average of £200-220, so depending on how much you've used it.. Not much i could find on ebay, but someone's selling a refurb for £160. Maybe £150? Dunno if anyone's sold a hoover on Hexus before

About £225 for the PS3 (from ebay completed listings)

The iMac is a bit more tricky. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/APPLE-IMAC-2-8...3A1|240%3A1318
was the closest i could find - so you'd be looking at around £900 absolute tops i think.

You had all that stuff when you were at uni! Lucky guy lol, I had a ps2 and a Dell pc haha

Hope the labyrinthitus doesn't return - my mother had that and it didn't seem to pleasant.

Ah, Labrynthitis - acute mental and physical exhaustion bought on by an inability to find your way out of a Labyrinth. If left untreated can lead to development of Maze AIDS.

    Bad luck mate.

I was thinking the same thing when typing the first post. Thanks a lot Whiternoise; I'll think about it Cheers!

I wonder though, if I could make my case that the Dyson is not any regular hoover and since it's a 'technology' marvel, I should be able to list it on HEXUS FS

You might be right there, at least about the acute exhaustion triggering it though
