Help - PC Rebooting after PCI Firewire/USB Card Installation

    Hi folks,

I'm in a bit of bother, basically I installed a new Belkin Firewire/USB card (this one: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...duct_Id=125578) into my siblings PC, needed for DV editing.

Now everything was OK prior to installing the card on a Gigabyte P35C-DS3R motherboard, upon install everything - drivers that is seemed to install fine, now the problem is that if you want to turn the system off, it reboots. Even if I turn it off via the On/Off button, it reboots automatically, any ideas what could be the cause of this.... I'm sorry I have to leave this sort.. anything you need to ask to help please ask...I'll post further info when I can, THANKS.

    UPDATE: 11/02/09
Okay folks, no go on what Gonzo said. So I had a look to see if I had disabled auto reboot, completely forgot about that, it was already disabled.
Everything in Device Manager, Event Log seem alright, no errors!

Has anybody used these Belkin PCI cards? Any problems?

Do you think that changing the card to another PCI slot might help? Does not seem to be conflicting IRQ issues?

Any more ideas on what I could try, I will later on remove the card and see if the issue goes away to confirm it is based on the Firewire PCI card install!

google how to disable auto restart on system failure, then you will get a blue screen with a stop error code so that it can be troubleshooted

As stated above mate, doesn't seem to be the issue of having a BSOD. Can't believe I just said that.

    What do I do now?

do what you said in the 1st post edit, pull the card and see if it still does it, if it does then remove the drivers for it. if it works minus the card try other pci slots and hunt for older/newer drivers if it still reboots

Will try later, thanks again for your prompt reply.

You get rusty I suppose when you build for family and friends and don't (touch wood) have build problems, need to be building soon, means more spending , anyway thanks again.

Also see that you've surpassed 4000 posts, it's good to have folks like yourself on this forum, we do appreciate your contributions.

It's got a molex connector on the PCB but in the manual it states the draw with/without the molex connector attached, so I don't think it needs to have the connector attached.

Will get around to logging support request from Belkin later on to see if there's newer drivers, as quick Google leads me to posts of endless reboots due to incorrect USB 2.0 driver installation, so will see later on. Thanks for the heads up on the molex, will ask Belkin if it is required.
