Is it just me or are these 3dmark scores a tad on the low side?

Well my specs are in the drop down box thingy to the left by my name and I'm getting around about 10700 3dmarks, Now I know I haven't got an uber machine but looking at ORB these scores seem a tad low to me.

Just ran it again after a bit of OC'ing

7750+ @3.1GHz now and the HD4850 at (690/1113) now from (625/993), I should also mention that at the minute I've been forced to use Windows Server 2008 as my main OS, and the score now stands at 11680 3DMarks:

    5138 - SM2.0 Score
    6011 - SM3.0 Score
    2437 - CPU Score

Re: Is it just me or are these 3dmark scores a tad on the low side?

The total score is not a straight addition of the numbers, its about SM2 + SM3 + CPU/2 but the actual calculation is much more complex, so 11680 is about right. Also with these new GPU's 3DMark06 is very CPU limited. Your dual core is letting your score down, if you had a quad you would be getting more like 13000-14000.

You're right, thanks for that. It is pretty low but is the dual core really letting him down? At 3.1+GHz?
    I had an E2180 @ 3GHz + 8800GTS 512 and scored a nice 13-14k with it.

Interesting, I used to get about 12000+ with my E6700@3ghz and 8800GT (overclocked).

And my brother is getting about 10000+ with his Amd 6000x2@3ghz and 8800GT (overclocked), so on that basis shouldn't the op be getting about at least 11000+?

    I get around 9.5k with an 8800GT or 10.5k with an HD4850. That's with an X2 5000+ BE @ 3GHz. Memory timings makes a difference too.

Who cares really? I don't feel like I've got a problem in games. It's only 3DMark.

True, as long as your fps in games are fine then what you get in 3dmark06 does not matter.

Not sure as I thought his CPU + GPU beats my setup that scored said 3DMarks. Unless my AMD performance numbers are off.
