8GB Memory /w Overclocking?
I had 2x2GB of ram running at 5-4-4-15-42 but it wasn't enough for some 1080p x264 action so I bought 4GB more ram. Couldn't get the system to run at even 400FSB (Was running 425, ram limited so I couldn't go higher). I guess the problem is with Trfc and BIOS is ignoring the SPD setting.
Bumping NB voltage up will makes it overheat, Bumping Mem voltage doesn't help (Only tried up to 2.15V, which is already spicy hot).
I am thinking of getting another motherboard but I fear it would have the same problem and means money down the drain.
Any inputs or views would be appreciated.

Re: 8GB Memory /w Overclocking?
You have put too much strain on the northbridge, so it cannot cope with the sticks of ram. You will find that 4-8GB would actually slow down your pc slightly as it means the cpu has to address the data to 4 sticks instead of 2. I mean i couldve got this slightly wrong but i believe this is the case, too many sticks of ram.
Re: 8GB Memory /w Overclocking?
I don't mind it going slower from 4 to 8GB because the CPU is under-utilized as I couldn't get 100% CPU usage due to insufficient ram (for extra instances of avisynth filtering for example). Even 5% slower, but with CPU working 15% more utilized would still be a gain.
I just want to know if there is any modestly priced motherboard that can actually handle 8GB at say 25~40% overclock. If there isn't one I might as well jump ship to Phenom II.
I now run at 400x8 (i.e. Ram not overclocked). It didn't crash this morning 8 hours with 4x Prime95 (Using 6GB ram in total), but then suddenly crash when I run windows explorer.

Had the same problem and Blaineoliver's theory seems to be sorta right. Had to run at DDR2-951 but the overclock helped boost the ram speeds :)
